JUN/08 - In nine out of ten weeks in Brazilian theaters, Estômago was the largest national box office.

Estômago completed ten weeks being screened in Brazilian theaters on June 19th. It was the largest box office for a national film in nine weeks. Estômago was also in Brazilian magazine Veja’s top ten movie list for ten weeks in a roll and it’s already the fourth biggest box office in the list of Brazilian movies.

MAY/08 - Estômago wins another international award.

The jury of The Latin American Film Festival, carried through 7 and 14 of May in Utrecht, Netherlands, conferred the Latin Angel Youth Award to the film Estômago, by Marcos Jorge. It's the 9th award received for this film, the 5th out of Brazil.

MAY/08 – MARCOS JORGE is one of the best directors of the new Brazilian cinema, according to VARIETY Magazine.

The American Magazine Variety, in its Special Edition in Cannes on May 16th analyzed the new Brazilian cinema and listed ten filmmakers there are currently making waves in their latest efforts. Marcos Jorge is one of them, along with Breno Silveira, Heitor Dhalia and Marcelo Gomes.

MAR/08 - Estômago wins best latin american film in the Uruguay International Film Festival.

“ESTÔMAGO – A Gastronomic Story” won best latin american film in the XXVI Festival Cinematográfico Internacional do Uruguay, held in Montevideo from 15th to 30th of March 2008.

FEV/08 - Estômago is the best film in the Punta del Este Festival

“ESTÔMAGO – A Gastronomic Story” took the awards for Best Film and Best Actor (given to protagonist João Miguel), in the XI Festival Internacional de Cinema de Punta del Este. The film beat out 16 others from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Spain, France, China, Mexico and Venezuela. Almost 100 films were shown during the festival including features, documentaries and shorts.

FEV/08 - Estômago wins awards in Rotterdam Festival

“ESTÔMAGO – A Gastronomic Story” won awards in its international debut. In Rotterdam, ESTÔMAGO received the LIONS AWARD, dedicated to the best Sturm und Drang film in the festival and came in second place for audience choice out of 196 films, behind only an animated movie. Four of ESTÔMAGO’s showings were completely full and an estimated 2000 people viewed the movie during the festival.

FEV/08 - Estômago competes in international festivals in Dublin, Punta del Este and Miami

The movie “ESTÔMAGO – A Gastronomic Story” continues its international career. In February, besides the Berlin Culinary Cinema Festival, the film will compete in the Jameson Dublin Film Festival (Irland); in the Festival Internacional de Cine de Punta del Este (Uruguay); and in the Miami International Film Festival (USA).

JAN/08 - Estômago is chosen for festivals in Berlin, Rotterdam and Miami

On January 29, the film will have its international premiere in the International Film Festival of Rotterdam. In February, the film will be part of selection for Berlin Film Festival (including a dinner with the director after the showing with a special menu based on the storyline) and at the end of the month, it will premiere in the US at the Miami International Film Festival.

OUT/07 - Estômago big winner at the Rio Festival

“ESTÔMAGO – A Gastronomic Story”, a feature by Marcos Jorge was the big winner at the Festival do Rio 2007, this Thursday (4). Besides being elected “Best Film” in the audience choice category, it also picked up trophies for best actor (João Miguel) and special mention for supporting actor Babu Santana.
